Moventis Sarfa, Autocares Meijide, Transportes Metropolitanos de Barcelona (TMB) and Autogranadina Empresa Torres were the companies recognised in this edition by Autobuses & Autocares magazine.
The aim of the ‘Companies of the Year’ Awards organised by Autobuses & Autocares is to “acknowledge the service provided to society by the road passenger transport sector”. For yet another year, the magazine invited the most important players in the road passenger transport sector, an event that Integralia did not want to miss. Efrén Rodríguez, the company’s sales manager for the national market, attended the meeting held at the IFEMA facilities to greet his colleagues in the sector and, of course, to congratulate the award winners.
In this edition of the National Transport Awards, in the Regular Transport category, the prize went to Moventis Sarfa, whose General Manager of Regular Transport, Juan Giménez, collected the award together with the company’s manager, Enric Gimeno. Moventis is a company specialising in urban and interurban transport in southern Europe under different brands. Specifically, Moventis Sarfa is based in Palafrugell, from where it offers its services throughout the Costa Brava area.
Autocares Meijide received the award in the Discretionary Transport category. On stage to collect the award: Adolfo Meijide Gómez, accompanied by his father, Adolfo Meijide Otero. The family company from Lalín (Pontevedra) has already blown out the candles of more than 75 years. Its history began in 1924 when José Meijide Blanco, ancestor of the current management of the company, decided to start in the passenger transport sector with an 8-seater Ford.
In the Urban Transport category, this year’s award went to Transportes Metropolitanos de Barcelona (TMB). The award was collected by Gerardo Lertxundi, the company’s CEO, and its Bus Director, Jacobo Kalitovics. TMB serves Barcelona and ten other municipalities in the metropolitan area. It is therefore the main public transport operator in Catalonia and a benchmark company for citizen mobility in Europe and the world.
And finally, in the SME category, which this year’s National Transport Awards have dedicated to Regular Transport, the winner was Autogranadina Empresa Torres, whose manager, Eugenio Cano, received the award. The company started its engines in Granada in 1947 and now has a large fleet of vehicles dedicated to occasional services. Among its achievements? It prides itself on being one of the first transport companies in the province of Granada to offer a minibus service.
At the closing ceremony of the event, the magazine Autobuses & Autocares was attended by the Director General of Land Transport of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma), Jaime Moreno García-Cano, who congratulated the award winners and wanted to show his support for the sector in the difficult times it is going through.
