Mithbusters member Mr. Hyneman tests the strength of the metal structure created by Integralia for its ‘ONE’ minibus model.
Spain. A secret location. A complicated test and a very demanding examiner. That was the scenario that awaited the metal structure of ONE. The Integralia minibus that was going to face the most spectacular test in its history. At least, the one that most cameras were going to record.
Jamie Hyneman, Mr. Hyneman, the famous member of the TV show ‘MythBusters’ was waiting to see the result of the test with his usual exigency. “It’s going to start. We see the structure of ONE, just the metal tubes that make it up”. Two cores that will split if there is a blow, smeared with paint to mark where the blow has hit.
The structure is thrown into the test area and falls to the ground. The blow is hard, but the structure holds up without any problems. The cores are intact and the paint has not even grazed an inch of the structure. Mr. Hyneman is pleasantly surprised by the shock absorbing capacity of the engineering piece and the resistance of the metals to the impact. ONE has passed the most viral test it has ever had.
The test, which is possible aquhere and also the interview with our Engineering Director here, are an action of Stalatube, the Finnish supplier of materials for metallic structures that wanted to entrust the design of the structure of the Integralia minibus to star in a chapter of its videos. The materials used by the Pamplona-based company to manufacture the skeleton of ONE are light and resistant, two fundamental characteristics for controlling the maximum authorised weight of vehicles and guaranteeing safety at the highest level imaginable. A piece of design by Integralia’s engineers verified by the most demanding safety and resistance tests. Now also by one of the most famous. In fact, it has even passed the test of a ‘MythBuster’.
